Multichain digital service insights explored with global partners
KRW 6 Million in Prizes, internship opportunities, and startup support for young developers
BUSAN, South Korea – BDACS, a leading digital asset custody firm in Korea, announced the successful conclusion of its 1DAY IDEATHON, held on Oct. 26 at BEXCO Exhibition Center Hall 1 (Room 314–317) in Busan. The event was organized to discover creative digital service ideas using blockchain technology and to strengthen Busan’s local blockchain ecosystem.
About 200 participants and stakeholders joined the event, which was centered around the theme “Multichain-based digital services.” The ideathon aimed to address the talent concentration in Seoul and support the practical growth of the Busan Blockchain Regulation-Free Zone.
Significantly, global Layer 1 blockchain platforms—including Avalanche, Polymesh, and GK8—participated as sponsors and judges, giving participants a chance to build real-world use cases on actual multichain infrastructure. Evaluation focused not only on ideation but also on technical feasibility, usability, and industry impact.
More than 20 finalist teams presented a wide array of innovative ideas, including:
Arte, an NFT and DeFi ecosystem for arts and culture
Konnect, a trading platform for IP royalty futures
WTK (World To Korea), a KRW payment solution designed for foreign users
NextWave Busan, a microloan platform tailored to the Busan region
IIPXHOP, a B2B distribution service for music data
MemenToken, a tourism membership platform built on dynamic NFTs
WellSure, a trust-based transaction platform for used car sales
Prior to the finals, participating teams took part in an online pre-mentoring program via Discord, held from October 16 to 24. Industry experts from organizations such as Samsung Electronics IP Center, MegazoneCloud, CSLEE, and THEKIE served as mentors, offering guidance on both technology and business development.
The final event kicked off at 10 a.m. with an opening ceremony, followed by presentations from global Layer 1 sponsors, two rounds of team pitches, live audience voting, a blockchain special lecture, and an awards ceremony. The venue buzzed with energy as participants delivered their pitches, engaged in Q&A sessions, and received expert feedback in a competitive and collaborative atmosphere.
Projects were evaluated based on four key criteria: relevance to the theme (30 points), creativity (30 points), industry impact (20 points), and feasibility (20 points). Final awards included one grand prize winner (KRW 1.5 million), two excellence awards (KRW 1 million each), two merit awards (KRW 500,000 each), and two encouragement awards (KRW 400,000 each), totaling approximately KRW 6 million in prize money. In addition, a special award from the Mayor of Busan was presented.
Beyond cash prizes, BDACS provided winning teams with practical follow-up support, including opportunities for networking and collaboration with global Layer 1 blockchain companies, business development assistance, real-world project matching, and internship placements in both Busan and Seoul. These benefits were designed to help participants turn a one-day hackathon into long-term momentum for startup creation, recruitment, or tech commercialization.
BDACS CEO Harry Ryoo commented, “This ideathon was a space for experimentation and bold innovation centered on blockchain technology. It also marks a foundational step toward making Busan a global hub for digital innovation. We hope this experience becomes a launchpad for participants to enter the domestic and global blockchain ecosystem.”
BDACS will continue offering open innovation programs designed to empower young talent and developers in the region.
